Adoption and Adoption Choices

This section of our website is designed to help you with information about placing a child for adoption and all of the adoption choices that are available to you.  Other sections of the website are designed to help you with pregnancy issues, with pregnancy concerns and with other pregnancy help .  A different section is designed to help you if you are planning to raise your child yourself.  In addition to this website, we have created a variety of websites that may be of help to you including:

If you are thinking about adoption, we are committed to being the most caring, careful, and professional agency you can find and to helping you make the best decision for you and your baby.

We are not an "adoption facilitator", "referral agency," or "finder program" that just matches you, the birth parent, with a family and then leaves everyone to find their own way through the complicated child adoption process.  As a full-service, licensed adoption agency, we provide all the ongoing assistance needed every step of the way.  We help, for as long as it takes, from beginning to end.

Consistent with this commitment, we offer you some unique services. We cut no corners, take no shortcuts, make sure you take no unnecessary risks, and provide you with all the information and personal assistance you need and desire. Nothing is ever hidden, forgotten or left out.

Unique Child Adoption Services We Provide

Some of the unique child adoption services we provide to help you are:

  1. We are available when you need us. Our office is not only open during normal business hours but we are also available to assist you on evenings, weekends, and holidays - 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Our toll-free phone # (800-943-0400) rings into the Agency Director's home at night and on weekends and holidays, so you can feel free to call anytime. You may get the answering machine if Dr. Berger has stepped out or has gone to bed. But, if it is urgent, you can have him paged regardless of the time of day or night.

  2. We can help you no matter what state you live in or even if you are living in a foreign country. And we have specialized services for military personnel and expatriates living anywhere in the world. We travel to you anywhere and everywhere as needed.

  3. We can help you whether you are one week or 9 months into your pregnancy, whether you have had or not had prenatal care, and even if your baby has already been born. We place newborns and children of all racial and ethnic backgrounds up to approximately 4 years of age.

  4. We offer a full range of services before, during, and after the birth of your child, including the payment of legal, medical, and other bills. And there is no charge to you, at any time, for any of our services.

  5. Our comprehensive counseling and guidance are provided by licensed, qualified professionals. And our support is available for as long as you need it. This will help you deal with any of the doubts, fears and concerns you may have, just as it has helped many of the 9,000 birth parents we've already assisted.

  6. We will help you with an open or closed child adoption, and any variation of these. And we conduct them in a way that avoids unnecessary physical, emotional and legal risk to you and your baby. You can make the decisions about what kind of adoption to have or you can ask us to make them for you.

  7. With Adoption Services, you can be as involved as you want in selecting and/or meeting the adopting family. You can allow our agency to select the best family for your child, or you can select the qualities which are important to you that the adopting family has and you can help select the family yourself. If you want, you can meet and talk with them before and/or after the adoption. If you would like, you can get pictures and updates on the baby for as long as you wish. Again, with our agency, these decisions are up to you .

  8. You can choose to have us select the adopting family for you from our waiting list, or you can be more active by selecting the family yourself.

  9. We take every possible precaution and very carefully and fully investigate any family seeking to adopt. We interview each family many times. We check their personal stability and the stability and quality of their marriage. We check their attitudes about adoption and about birth parents. We find out when and how they will tell the child about the biological parents. We check out attitudes about child rearing and discipline. We check their tax records.

We check state police records, child abuse authorities, and with the FBI. We even have the adopting family go through comprehensive medical check-ups.  We tour their home and neighborhood to be sure they will be able to provide the financial support and physical security and comfort your baby deserves. We get multiple personal references.

And any of the information we have about the adopting family can be shared with you, if you want to know about it.

  10. We do not use foster care!

Studies show it is better to place your child from the hospital or your home directly into the home of the adopting family. This direct placement allows the bonding to take place as soon as possible and is ultimately the best for your child.

  11. We can help you whether you are one week or 9 months into your pregnancy, whether you have had or not had prenatal care, and even if your baby has already been born.

We place newborns, infants, and children up to approximately 4 years of age - children of all races (Caucasian, African-American, bi-racial, multi-racial, etc.) and all ethnic backgrounds.

  12. We make sure that all legally allowable medical, legal, and other expenses are paid and that you do not have to worry about them.

Depending on the laws of your state, housing, food, maternity care, and living expenses may also be covered.

Whether or not you proceed with an adoption placement, you never have to pay for any of the services provided by our agency.

  13. We do not quit after the placement of your child. We continue to help you for as long as you need. And we continue to check on the adopting family and your baby long after the child is placed.

We provide supervision for months after placement. We talk to the adopting family every few days, go to their home, have them come to our office several times, and check with their pediatrician and any child care provider they may use.

Over the past several years we have worked with over 9,000 birth parents and their newborns and young children and we have never, ever, had a child abused or neglected.

  14. We provide extensive follow-up services and our overall satisfaction rating by birth parents is excellent. Many of our birth parents have provided us with testimonials, all of which are available by mail or you can view many of them on this website. Our agency's outstanding record can also be verified by calling the State Licensing Authority at (717) 772-7702. Additionally, many birth parents who have already placed through our agency are available (upon request) to talk with you.

  15. And long after your baby is placed, we are here for you, too. We are always available for as long as it takes to help you.

  16. We will help you understand the child adoption process. We will answer all of your questions. There is never any pressure when you call us and all calls are confidential.

Special Note

The children seen on this website are just a few of the many that birth mothers and birth fathers have placed with the help of our Agency. Most were placed as newborns or young children; however, these pictures are of recent updates routinely sent to us by the adopting families. The quotes are from our birth mothers, birth fathers, and adopting families.  We hope you enjoy them!
