Dear mothers and mothers to be we understand that bringing a child into the world can sometimes create a need for various types of financial, medical, nutritional and emotional assistance.  We want to help you find the help you need.  With that in mind we have created the following list of what we consider the best government, public and private programs that help people in your situation.  We do this because we care about you and your child.

Virginia has several state and federally funded programs that can help you if you are living in Virginia and are pregnant or are raising your child.  Please click on the links below for more details about the Virginia programs that can help you.

Virginia Breast and Cervical Cancer Detection programs in each state provide free breast and cervical cancer screening services.

Virginia Child Health Insurance Program provides free health insurance.

Virginia child nutrition programs include free and low-cost food, nutrition information, and preschool and school nutrition programs.

Virginia child welfare agency can help with pregnancy, parenting, and foster care.

Virginia Early Head Start can help you while you are pregnant and can help you raise your young child.

Virginia Food Banks distribute free food to those in need.

Virginia Food Stamp Program helps persons with low-incomes to obtain food.

Virginia Low Income Energy Assistance Program can help you is you are having trouble meeting your heating and cooling energy bills.

Virginia WIC provides free food, nutrition counseling, and referrals at no charge.
