Dear mothers and mothers to be we understand that bringing a child into the world can sometimes create a need for various types of financial, medical, nutritional and emotional assistance.  We want to help you find the help you need.  With that in mind we have created the list of what we consider the best government, public and private programs that help people in your situation.  We do this because we care about you and your child.

Government Assistance Programs

For each state we have provided website links and contact information for the assistance programs listed below.  For the specific programs in your state of residence, click on the state name in the box below.

Breast and Cervical Cancer Detection for free breast and cervical cancer screening services.

Child Health Insurance Program provides free health insurance.

Child Nutrition Programs provide access to free and low-cost food.

Child Welfare Agency assists with pregnancy, parenting, and foster care.

Department of Health offers nutrition information and help with pregnancy and post-pregnancy concerns.

Department of Education can provide you with information about school nutrition, pregnancy, and child developmental programs.

Early Head Start promotes healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women and helps with the development of very young children.

Food Banks distribute free food.

Food Stamp Program  helps persons with low-incomes to obtain food.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program can help keep you and your child warm in winter and cool in summer.

Medicaid in each state can help you with answers about free services offered to you and your child.

Unemployment Insurance benefits provide temporary financial assistance to a woman whose employment has been ended.

WIC provides free food, nutrition counseling, and referrals. .
