Pregnancy Support Groups

Crisis pregnancy centers are staffed with individuals who want to help a pregnant woman through this difficult time in her life.  The volunteers and staff of the centers understand that the choice a woman makes regarding her pregnancy will have a profound effect on her body, her emotional well-being, and countless other aspects of her current and future life.

Crises Pregnancy Centers: Introduction

Crisis pregnancy centers are generally non-profit organizations established by pro-life supporters who strive to help pregnant women carry their baby to terms rather than have an abortion.  These centers generally advise women about the options of raising their child or the option of adoption.   Typically crisis pregnancy centers provide non-medical supportive services but many of them also provide some level of medical care.

Most crisis pregnancy centers are affiliated with one of 3 major pro-life Christian organizations that fund the programs: Care Net, Heartbeat International, and Birthright International.  In contrast to other reproductive health centers, crisis pregnancy centers generally do not provide contact information for abortion providers or emergency contraception. This policy reflects the pro-life mission of program operators and the volunteers who work at the centers. Accordingly, crisis pregnancy center methods are often criticized as being non-objective.  However, these centers can be a very valuable resource for a pregnant woman.

Locate a Crises Pregnancy Center

Crisis pregnancy center locator  and LifeCall.org are two crises pregnancy center resources for a U.S. birth mother.  A different website can help pregnant women in Canada.

If you are a victim of domestic violence, have knowledge of a sexual abuse, or are in need of a shelter, please visit the page Mother and Child Safety.
