Regarding adoptions from this foreign country:
The law of this islamic country does not recognize the practice of adoption and as such may not create under U.S. Law the requisite legal adoptive relationship and status required by the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act for immigration purposes. In Lebanon, only Christian institutions recognize adoptions as a legal convention and define the conditions, rights and duties thereof. Christian orphanages in Lebanon may have children available for adoption. Lebanese adoptions are complex, and it is highly recommended that persons considering adoption from Lebanon seek legal counsel in Lebanon before beginning this process.
Since adoption is overseen by religious institutions in Lebanon, the adoptions must be supervised by authorized church authorities and must be approved by these authorities as well as the Christian Court. This also applies to children who are adopted through non-Christian denominations.
