The Louisiana Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) can provide your child with free health insurance if your income level is too high to be eligible for Louisiana Medicaid, but yet you do not make enough money to purchase private health insurance for your child.

LaCHIP. If your child is younger than 19 and does not have health insurance, he or she could get LaCHIP to pay for seeing a doctor or dentist. LaCHIP covers care at a hospital, prescription drugs and shots, too.
