Pregnancy Q and A's

Pregnancy Q and A's addresses some of the most common questions pregnant woman and birth mothers call us about.

Pregnancy Tests

Pregnancy tests can help with the question of whether or not you are pregnant. All of these tests are either home pregnancy tests or they are based on a blood sample taken at a clinic or at your doctor or midwife's office.

Pregnancy Symptoms

The most common early sign of pregnancy is missing your period. Other symptoms include feeling lightheaded, dizzy, or faint and having morning sickness. This page will provide you with details on the many and varied symptoms of pregnancy.

Pregnancy Stages

Pregnancy is often divided into three stages or trimesters: the 1st trimester is based on the baby's gestational age from weeks 0-12; the 2nd trimester is from weeks 13-26; and the 3rd trimester is from week 27 until the end of the pregnancy (approximately 40 weeks). This link will explain each of the stages of pregnancy.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal care should be started as soon as possible.  It can assure you that you and your baby are as healthy as possible.  It is important to take the time to educate yourself about prenatal care and how it can positively affect you and your baby.

Pregnancy Calendar

Pregnancy calendars give you a detailed guide to all the changes taking place in you and your baby. Each week/month of a pregnancy calendar includes a description of your baby's development, as well as an explanation of the changes taking place in your body.

Birth Plan

Although you may not be able to control everything that happens to you during your labor and the birth of your baby, a birth plan can help in the decisions that are made about your body and your baby.

Hospital Selection

Choosing where to give birth, whether in a hospital or birth center setting, are choices you have. This site discusses the different types of hospital and birth center options you may want to consider.
