After all the delays and form letters we were accustomed to receiving from adoption agencies, imagine how amazed we were to receive a call from you just days after our first contact.

 

How can we ever summarize in a few words our admiration for you? We marvel every day at the inspired and sensitive way you brought Elizabeth into our lives.

 

From the beginning, we knew you were someone special. After all the delays and form letters we were accustomed to receiving from adoption agencies, imagine how amazed we were to receive a call from you just days after our first contact with Adoption Services. We quickly learned that personal attention was your trademark, as you guided us with sensitivity and professionalism through each step of what could have been a terrifying process.

 

We are also secure in the knowledge that, despite your deep interest in us, your first concerns were the baby and her birth mother and that, in some sense, we were chosen because we answered their needs. We recognize that all the time and attention you gave us represented a relatively minor aspect of your real mission, which was to help Elizabeth's birth mother through what must have been one of the most difficult experiences of her life. For us, part of loving Elizabeth as much as we do is caring very deeply for the young woman who gave birth to her. It gives us great comfort to know that she was counseled by you and made her decision in the context of your wise and sensitive support. We will always be grateful to you for that.

 

There is so much more. No one can believe how quickly we were able to adopt Elizabeth. That, of course, is attributable to your dedication and professionalism. Whatever the apparent obstacles - legal, practical, etc.- you persisted, and at those most delicate times when both the birth mother and us were most vulnerable, you managed somehow to serve everyone's interests. You managed skillfully to maintain confidentiality in the adoption, yet have given us a sense of continuity with Elizabeth's birth mother, forwarding information and photos so that she can follow Elizabeth's development.

 

Last, but not least, no one could ask for a more beautiful, intelligent or healthy child than Elizabeth. She is the miracle of our lives and we thank you for bringing about this miracle.
