As a woman in Indiana who has an unexpected, unwanted, or untimely pregnancy, you are affected by the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision affecting Roe v. Wade. The Court has now determined that there is no longer a constitutional right to abortion.
Currently, abortion rights changed in many states including Indiana. Abortion is now banned in Indiana at 22 weeks and later. Then a woman is forced to make two trips—one for in-person counseling and another at least 18 hours later for the abortion.
What can I do?
So, what can you, as an Indiana pregnant woman do since abortion in your state may no longer be an option?
First, make sure you understand about Roe v. Wade and the abortion laws of Indiana. Then consider your options including:
(1) traveling to a state where an abortion may be possible;
(2) carrying the pregnancy and raising the child either yourself or with the birthfather, or letting the father raise the child;
(3) having a family member or friend raise the child;
(4) placing the child in the Indiana foster care system; or
(5) consider placing the baby for adoption.
If you are thinking adoption, our not-for-profit agency, Adoption Services (www.adoptionservices.org), has over 37 years of experience and has completed almost 900 successful adoptions of babies with loving families. Our Agency, or some other adoption agency, can and will help you.
