If you are a pregnant woman living in Kentucky, you are affected by the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision affecting a previous law (Roe v. Wade).
In 1973, the Roe v. Wade decision by the U.S. Supreme Court ruled abortion as a constitutionally protected right regardless of the laws of Kentucky, or any other state. The U.S. Supreme Court has now reversed Roe v. Wade, declaring that the constitutional right to abortion no longer exists.
Under current Kentucky law, an abortion is banned at 15 weeks and later. If the woman is eligible for an abortion, she is forced to make two trips—one for in-person counseling and another at least 24 hours later for the abortion.
What can I do?
As a Kentucky pregnant woman with an unexpected, unwanted, or untimely pregnancy, what can you do since abortion in your state may no longer be an option for you?
Your options may include including:
(1) traveling to a state where an abortion may be possible;
(2) carrying the pregnancy and raising the child either yourself or with the birthfather, or letting the father raise the child;
(3) having a family member or friend raise the child;
(4) placing the child in the Kentucky foster care system; or
(5) consider placing the baby for adoption.
Our not-for-profit agency, Adoption Services (www.adoptionservices.org), was founded in 1985 and has completed almost 900 successful adoptions of babies with loving families and we can help you find the perfect family for your baby.
